Anna Buchberger / Piano Music Festival „Clavis“

Anna Buchberger started playing the piano at the age of five. Three years later she was awarded a first prize at the Steinway-competition in Munich, performed in the Herkulessaal of the Munich residence and recorded for the main Bavarian public radio station “Bayerischer Rundfunk”. In 2003 Anna was accepted as the youngest extraordinary “junior” piano student of Prof. Franz Massinger at the University for Theater and Music Munich.

After her Diploma in Munich with Prof. Margarita Höhenrieder, Anna continued her studies with piano legend Léon Fleisher (Peabody, Johns Hopkins University/Baltimore). In 2015, she finished her Master back in Munich with Margarita Höhenrieder and became her assistant. Besides this assistance, Anna gained a teaching position at the University of Music and Theater Munich. 

Anna’s artistic talent is reflected in the press in multifarious ways: Her “incredibly multifarious, colored sound...her rhetorical sovereignty…her unmistakable intuition for the natural musical breathing, in general…and her sensual handling of keys and harmony… her touching and simple sonority aims with consoling warmness directly into your heart” (Main-Post).

Additionally she impresses with her “musical maturity” (Frankfurter Allgemeine), “fascinating, unexcitedly expressivity” (WAZ) and her “musical creativity over the conventions” (Münchner Merkur).

She has participated in several national and international competitions and frequently won special awards additionally to her prizes (“Steinway-Piano-Competition”, “International Piano Competition Ettlingen“,“Concertino Praga“, “Steinway-Scholarship-Prize”, “Prix amadéo”, “Rising stars”, “Ton und Erklärung”…)

Among her numerous awards and honors are: The Carl – Heinz Illies / German Foundation “Musikleben” -, the Jürgen Ponto-Foundation- and the company Degussa-scholarship, the honorary award for cultural enrichment of the city of Fürstenfeldbruck, the advancement award Golf & Music Tegernsee, special awards of the National Pharmacy Board, the Bavarian Association of Savings Banks and the German Foundation “Musikleben”, “Live-Music-Now” scholarsip , Orlandus Lassus scholarship or Peabody Scholarship.

So far, Anna has participated in numerous festivals and broadcasting-, television- and CD-productions. Playing both recitals and solo-concertos, Anna gained concert-experience in all of Europe, including Tonhalle Zürich, Philharmonie Gasteig/Herkulessaal/Prinzregententheater Munich, Rudolfinum/Prague, Baden-Baden-Festspielhaus,Theater of Zug/Switzerland, Kurhaus Meran, Festival “jeunes virtuoses internationales“ Tunis/Tunisia, “Jeunes Talents”Paris, “Winners and Masters”, MUNICH, Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, “Blaibach Konzerthaus”, Theater Schweinfurt, Germany; among others with the Young Symphonics/ Ensemble Interculturel, the Symphonyorchestra Radio Prague, the “Orquesta Santa Cecilia de Cullera“, the Stateorchestra Rhenish Philharmony, the HSR Radio Symphonyorchestra, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Stateorchestra Halle and the German Statephilharmony Rheinland-Pfalz under conductors like Vladimir Válek, Ari Rasilainen, Prof. Weiß, Dominik Beykirch, Ruben Gazarian or Daniel Raiskin. Anna is a passionate chamber musician and performed with musicans like I.G. Veronika Eberle, Giorgi Kharadze, Valerij Sokolov or Dominique Merlet and performs in a Piano-duo with Henriette Zahn.

In addition to her studies, Anna received further impulses from Sir András Schiff, Jaques Rouvier AND Maria Joao Pires. She loves to share her knowledge in master classes (such as for for the participants at the “International Piano competition Tunis”).
